Debt Management
The IMF concluded its 2025 Article IV mission to Belize, highlighting the country’s strong post-pandemic recovery, with real GDP growing 8.1% in 2024 and poverty falling significantly. However, growth is expected to moderate to around 2% over the medium term due to capacity constraints. Public debt has declined sharply to 61.1% of GDP, but further fiscal consolidation and structural reforms are needed to reach the 50% target by 2030. The IMF recommends enhancing revenue, prioritizing key expenditures, expanding access to finance, and boosting resilience to natural disasters.
