Central Executing Unit
The Central Executing Unit (CEU) was established by the Government of Belize with support from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and operates under the Ministry of Finance. Initially created to coordinate and implement IDB loan-funded projects, the CEU has since expanded its portfolio to include projects financed by the World Bank, the Saudi Development Fund, and Taiwan Grant Funds.
Serving as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders, the CEU ensures streamlined project management, facilitating the timely and cost-effective execution of all project phases. It oversees the financial and operational aspects of these projects, ensuring strict compliance with relevant regulations and standards, and maintains effective communication with stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress.
Equipped with in-house expertise in procurement, finance, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, the CEU minimizes startup delays and accelerates adaptation to the procedural requirements of each funding institution. Led by a director and supported by a team of specialized professionals, the CEU manages every component of the projects under its purview, reinforcing Belize’s capacity to deliver high-impact development initiatives efficiently.
