The Government of Belize’s FY 2026/27 Budget Speech, themed “Budgeting for Belizean Prosperity,” outlines a plan to continue economic stability and expand national development through record capital investment. With economic growth projected at 2.3% and unemployment at a historic 2.0%, the budget forecasts $1.79B in revenues and grants against $1.90B in expenditures, driven by increases in recurrent revenue and major infrastructure spending. Priority investments include $606M in capital projects the highest in Belize’s history targeting highways, bridges, renewable energy expansion, NHI rollout to the full Cayo District, education system modernization, and social programs. Public debt remains sustainable at 66.6% of GDP, and the Government aims for a 1.1% primary surplus while advancing reforms in tax administration, pension sustainability, civil service modernization, and climate‑finance mobilization. Overall, the budget emphasizes resilience, human development, and long-term fiscal sustainability.
